Where are you ladies?

Women Don’t Run In Winter

It’s a Man’s World…

…So we’re giving the ladies 10% off this week! Use code: LADIESONLY at the checkout

The last two weeks have seen us ship out LOADS of orders around the country. Much more than normal, in fact. And we’re so grateful to all of our amazing customers who are helping us to continue to grow. We’re certainly becoming the go-to online store for Vibram FiveFingers.

The bestsellers of the last fortnight have been the Lontra, the Trek Sport, and the EL-X

However, during this time, 9 out of 10 orders have been for men!!

This has had us scratching our heads. Do women decide not to run in winter? Do ladies hibernate? Do they choose to visit the gym only during the months March to October? Surely not!

Ladies Only

That’s why, for the rest of this week only, we’ve decided to a LADIES ONLY discount (sorry gentlemen). Prove to us you still need your Vibram FiveFingers during the cold weather by ordering a pair today AND GET AN EXTRA 10% OFF by entering code: LADIESONLY at the checkout.

So, what’s it gonna be?

If you’re looking for a winter shoe, we recommend the Lontra, the Trek Sport, or the Spyridon.

If you’re after a gym shoe, look no further than the Komodo Sport.

If you want a new-for-2013 pair that are great for yoga, pilates, and indoor training, how about the Entrada or the Alitza?

And finally, if you’re just looking for a clearance-bargain, we recommend you click on the styles below and keep your fingers crossed we have your size available!

Don’t forget the Code: LADIESONLY

This sexist special offer is applicable only to ladies’ footwear and will only last until midnight this Friday (14th November 2013). So be quick.

FirmAppa Logo,

Are you a design whizz-kid?

Would you like to win £100 for designing a logo?

We are proud to announce that we are launching a sister company. ‘FirmAppa’ (short for Firm Apparel) will be launching before Christmas 2013, and will specialise in the manufacture of multi-functional balaclavas (aka neck tubes). But first… We need a logo – and that’s where we need your help!

Full information is detailed below, and also at www.FirmAppa.com

The FirmAppa Logo Design Contest, An Overview:

  • Logo must contain the words FirmAppa.
  • Logo must contain no more than two colours.
  • It is preferable that the logo features colours that are interchangeable (For example, the Nike swoosh is still recognisable regardless of what colour it appears).
  • It is preferable that the logo can be scaled up and down in size whilst still maintaining image quality and legibility.
  • Maximum of 2 Entries per Entrant, to be submitted to firmappa@gmail.com.
  • Competition is open to everybody and ends midnight, 31 October 2013.

This document describes the official rules (“Official Rules”) of the FirmAppa Logo Design Contest organised by FirmAppa and Feetus.co.uk. The object of this contest is to design a logo for FirmAppa. Information on how to enter and about the prizes is part of these Official Rules. To the extent of any inconsistency, these Official Rules prevail.

“Entry” means a logo design created by the Entrant for this Contest.

“Entrant” means the individual that offers the Entry under the terms of this Contest.

The Contest is open to everybody.

Entrants must be over the age of 18 years old.

  1. Initial entries must be submitted by email to firmappa@gmail.com. The entries must be submitted as a scalable vector graphic in EPS format, and also as a JPEG.
  2. The email must include the name, age, postal address, contact number, and email address of the Entrant.
  3. No more than 2 entries to be submitted by any one Entrant.
  4. Entries must conform to the Submission Guidelines set out below. Failure to do so may result in an entry being rejected.
  5. The deadline for entries is midnight on 31st October 2013, GMT.
  6. We will attempt to acknowledge all entries within three days of receipt; however, we cannot be responsible for entries or responses lost in email.
  7. The contest is free to enter.

The purpose of the contest is to design a logo for a new sports apparel company called FirmAppa. The logo will be used online, in print, on merchandise and on clothing and apparel etc. Flexibility is a key requirement, including the need to resize easily and to look good in black and white as well as colour. The final version of the logo will need to be suitable for high quality printing.

Because of the requirement to register the logo as a Trademark, Entrants should take care to ensure that their Entries are not in any way similar to existing logos or other copyrighted images. A logo that cannot be registered as a Trademark, no matter how well crafted, cannot win the Contest.

The logo must contain the words FirmAppa.

This image should not be photographic (see below for information on graphic formats.

Due to the requirements for high quality printing and re-sizing Entries must be submitted in scalable vector graphic format (EPS). We advise against the use of halftones and gradients unless created inside a vector graphics program. Colour in this version must be CMYK, no spot colours.

The limit on attachment sizes for our email is 10Mb.

Subject to the legal requirements outlined above, the winning design will be announced during the first two weeks of November 2013. We may also use a selection of Entries to present to the public via online means (i.e. blog, social media) to seek public opinion on which logo is preferred.

The winning designer will receive:

  • A £100 cash prize.
  • A unique FirmAppa certificate
  • The right to use the basic logo and identify him/herself as the logo designer.

The winning design will be selected by judges appointed for the purpose by owners of FirmAppa. Their decision will be final. No further correspondence shall be entered into.

FirmAppa reserves the right not to select a winner if, in its sole discretion, no suitable entries are received.

FirmAppa reserves the right to disqualify any Entrant or Entry at its sole discretion. No correspondence shall be entered into.

The winner will be required to sign a contract assigning all ownership of the logo to FirmAppa.

Accepting the prize constitutes permission for FirmAppa to make public and otherwise use winner’s name, and country of residence for publicity purposes. Further personal data may be requested but is not required.

All submitted work must be original and not based on any pre-existing design.

All Entries will become the sole property of FirmAppa and may be displayed publicly on FirmAppa (and sister company Feetus.co.uk) web sites, including blog and social media web sites.

The winning entry will be registered by FirmAppa as a Trademark and the Entrant agrees to transfer all right and title to the Entry to FirmAppa in accordance with the Official Rules of this Contest.

Participation constitutes the Entrant’s full and unconditional agreement to and acceptance of these Official Rules. By participating in the Contest, the Entrant is representing and warranting that he/she has read and understood, and agrees to be bound by, these rules. David Beckham in Underwear and Vibram FiveFingers

Many of you will have seen the recent David Beckham photos on the news and the tabloids this week.

He’s been shooting a new advert for H&M, and was seen running around in his underwear on the rooftops in London!

What many of you probably didn’t notice is what was (or wasn’t) on his feet!!

While Golden Balls appears at first glance to be completely barefoot, he is in fact, wearing a pair of Vibram FiveFingers. They have been disguised with some kind of skin-coloured latex to give the impression he’s running in bare feet!

The FiveFingers were supplied to him by our UK Suppliers. Did you guess what model they were?

Underneath that latex stuff, David Beckham was wearing the new-for-2013 EL-X. Interested in getting some for yourself? Just click the image below!

The Torq Trail Team: 2013 (An Extraordinary Weekend)

Question: How often do you get the chance to meet with a load of like-minded people, attend a presentation by a top ultra trail runner, trial a full range of the best sport nutrition on the market, and then take guided runs through some beautiful Shropshire trails?

Answer: Not very often (unless you’re a pro runner).

Well that’s exactly what Torq (in association with FreeStak) put together for a group of trail runners this weekend.

A Trail Team is (Almost) Born

This was billed originally as an ‘Assessment Day’ to help select a small group of amateur trail runners to form the inaugural Torq Trail Team. Not only would this team proudly represent Torq at events across the country and have a healthy supply for Torq goods at their disposal – but they would also be taken for a training holiday to cover the Ultra Trail du Mont Blanc (UTMB) circuit. Not bad eh?

Saturday: Education. Inspiration. Perspiration.

The format of the day was very relaxed. After an hour of socialising, a brief introduction from the charismatic Simon and Julie from FreeStak, we received a fantastic presentation from Torq’s nutritional guru, Ben. It’s fair to say that we all learned an awful lot from what became an interactive session covering all aspects of ‘fuelling’ on the run. Don’t hit that wall!

We were then treated to a superb session with Stuart Mills. Thought-provoking, inspirational, controversial, and more… “Run as fast as you can, when you can”, “If you’re doing core work, you’re not doing enough running”. If you’ve never stumbled across Ultra Stu’s blog before, do it today, you won’t regret it!

Inspired and wired (on gels), we donned our running gear to hit the trails across the Long Mynd. Often surrounded by low cloud, battered by a side wind, and shin-deep in snow, we were distracted by great company and beautiful views. The only competitive aspect of the run was perhaps the rush for the showers at the end.

Sunday: Long Run

Sunday’s schedule was simple. You either ran a 2-hour circuit, or a 4-hour circuit, and your reward would be a well-earned hotpot in the hostel. The typical British weather did little to put the hardy group of trail runners off on what turned out to be an unforgettable day of running.

The Future

Torq and FreeStak have got big plans for this concept going forward, with plans for the next few years already being formulated. It’s fair to say that interest in this Trail Team will only grow, but who knows, if you stay up to date with Torq via their Facebook page; it could be YOU in 2014…

In the meantime, why not try out some of Torq’s amazing products?

Introducing: RedVenom Compression Gear

Whether you’re a professional or an amateur athlete – we’re always on the lookout for gear that improves performance.

Compression base layers are nothing knew. Research has existed for many moons documenting how compression gear can not only enhance our performance in training and racing, but also as a recovery aid.

Top Performance

Top compression clothing normally carries a ‘top’ price. You can spend a small fortune on kitting yourself from head to toe in Lycra. That’s why we were amazed when we discovered RedVenom.

Initially a little sceptical – We tested the RedVenom gear out on a variety of exercises from running and cycling, to strength training and core work, only to find that each garment held it’s own and performed admirably. A few weeks (and many miles) of training in RedVenom later, we’re proud to become stockists.

Competitive Pricing

RedVenom pride themselves on offering the same quality garmets as the top brands, but offering them at around a third of the price. They can do this by keeping advertising costs to a minimum, and over-spending on excessive packaging.

These form-fitting garments deliberately fit tight to your body to help reduce the build up of lactic acid, whilst keeping you dry and comfortable during excersise by wicking moisture away from your skin. The fit also improves recovery by preventing muscle oscillation which effectively leads to fatigue and muscle soreness.

Give Them a Go

You won’t be disappointed with RedVenom’s range. They offer shorts and tights, and both long and short-sleeved tops. We barefoot runners will also greatly benefit from their two options of calf guards, plus a graduated compression sock – All of which provide relief to sore calf muscles after running.

Ask Us A Question

If you have any questions regarding RedVenom clothing, feel free to leave us a comment, or send us a message here. We’re happy to help.
